Sandspiel unblocked: play Sandspiel online free right here in your browser — no download, no sign-up, works on a school Chromebook.
Sandspiel is not a puzzle with a score or a fail state. It is a falling-sand toy: you pick an element from a palette, paint it onto a canvas with the mouse or a finger, and watch a small physics simulation take over. Sand piles up, water flows around it, fire eats plants, and lava turns things to stone. Max Bittker made it, and it is the game that made the falling-sand genre easy to pick up in a browser tab.
It sits a little apart from the rest of Sand Tetris. If you came for Sandtris, you already like watching grains settle into shapes; Sandspiel takes the grains and removes the rules, so the only goal is whatever you decide to build or destroy. A session can last thirty seconds while you wait for something, or an hour if you get absorbed in making a landscape.
How to play
There are no arrow keys or piece-dropping here. Everything is done by pointing: choose an element from the palette, then click and drag (or drag a finger on a touch screen) over the canvas to paint it. Switch elements and paint again. The simulation runs continuously, so what you draw starts moving straight away.
The palette includes sand, water, fire, plants, ice and lava, along with a few more exotic materials, and each one reacts with the others. Water puts out fire and lets plants grow, fire burns plants, and lava is hot enough to change what it touches. Most of the fun comes from painting two elements next to each other and seeing what happens.
Tips
- Build a container first. Solid material such as stone or wall holds liquids in place, so you can make a basin, drop plants in it and flood it.
- Paint water above plants and sand to see how they interact, then add fire to see how quickly a green area burns.
- Try layering: sand over water sinks and displaces it, while lighter materials rise, so stacking elements in different orders gives different results.
- If the canvas becomes a mess, clear it and start again. Small, deliberate experiments teach you the reactions faster than flooding the screen.

Sandbox of Elements is the closest relative, another element-painting sandbox in the same spirit. Sandtris keeps the falling sand but wraps it in a block-clearing puzzle, and Tetra Blocks and Block Puzzle are the classic drop-and-clear games if you want a target to aim at rather than open play.
Sandspiel suits anyone who wants a relaxed break with no pressure: it runs in the browser with nothing to install, and works with a mouse or on a touch screen.
